What is VSI?

As a home base for all live webcasts of the VSI Project, teachers and students in high schools and career centers across SC will be able to participate in live interactions with surgical teams as well as have access to downloadable videos, lesson plans and other materials. The VSI Project is designed to spur interest in healthcare professions.

South Carolina’s hospitals are in the midst of one of the largest workforce shortages ever, a shortage that will grow as Baby Boomers age and demand for healthcare services increases. Along with nurses, other healthcare professions such as medical technologists, clinical laboratory scientists, surgical technicians, pharmacists and even physicians are in short supply and high demand. The situation does have a bright side—a wide range of exciting, well-paying careers available to teens with the right educational background.
